Lingusamy in Vettai

Vettai after watching the movie I did have anything coming to my mind regarding what to write? How to write?? I don’t mean that the movie is bad but it’s the same old script inky pinky ponky father had a donkey father died donkey cried inky pinky ponky, But later thought to review the attempts taken in the movie both positive and negative ones.

First comes to our mind is The Director Lingusamy known for his racy scripts which take the three hours in a matter of puffs you get in to the theatre, you have a pop corn done 1st half is complete, then have a large coke the climax yes ! The villain dies yeah!! The hero wins J what.. The..?? Movie is done ?! What then ??? I gave 120Rs for just to drink a coke and to have popcorn ??

Same thing happens here in Vettai too 1st the film has Bi’s in all, like
2 heroes
2 heroines
2 producers
2 villains
Lucky the music is from 1 Music director and cinematography by 1 camera man.

First Hero Madhavan happy to see a hero without 6 packs. Maddy joins with the same director after Run(2002) a gap of twenty movies to the first. Maddy plays the story line of the movie and once again proves that he is worth a mass actor who can do roles both the ways romantic and action. Plays Husband to Sameera Reddy and Cop.

Not to forget the second hero Arya, who is the screenplay of the movie. Who is a jobless rogue.

The story line needs to be revealed here, after the death of their father, a police officer, and the elder brother (Maddy) takes on the same job by request of the younger (Arya). The older brother rises to fame in his job by having his younger brother secretly punish suspects and save victims for him. This angers two of the village's biggest mob bosses (Ashutosh Rana ) and (Muthukumar) , who begin to seek revenge on the elder brother. After getting severely beaten by them, the elder brother loses his fear and becomes physically stronger through training from his younger brother. How the brothers get back at two gangs and protect their families form the rest of the story.

First heroine Sameera Reddy who plays the wife of cop is introduced with a black colored half sari and a song with her younger sister. The movie has two songs in a sequence the heroes and the heroines takes first twenty minutes of the movies shows Lingu’s speed. Next twenty minutes to introduce the villains done 1st half. Best part is the light weight comedy of Arya with Amala Paul who happens to be his wife later.so both brothers marry the sisters which all started from Vanaja Girija (1994).

The character of both the heroines have suited that they look like sisters in real and the costume is also suited well that they look chic and in the legacy attire makes us believe that they are sisters in real. Technically Nirav Shah has concentrated a lot on the location of Thoothukudi and its surroundings but fight seems to be taken at Binny mills a known location for most of the Tamil movies. The color correction done in the movies is cool.

The characters are made such a way that the first hero is too sensitive to violence where as his wife is straight opposite to his character which is visible whenever she meets Arya you will know once you watch it in theatre. Dialogue delivery of Amala is better than Sameera may be the experience of Mynaa takes in account.

Amala Paul who is in for a full role after Mynaa has done her part well, she makes a good pair to watch with Arya and lip sync for the songs have matched well and looks clean.
Yuvan had done the Music and has given heavy BGM’s for the Villains and the heroes.
Editing done by Antony happy that he has understood the script and edited as per the director’s thought.

Cast:-
§ Arya as Gurumurthy

§ R. Madhavan as Thirumurthy

§ Sameera Reddy as Vasanthi

§ Amala Paul as Jayanthi

§ Ashutosh Rana as Annachi

§ Thambi Ramaiah (Constable)

§ Muthukumar as Mari

Vettai also concentrates on its title which comes after 5 minutes shows the masala and mass that is put in by the director. At the outset Lingusamy is known for Entertainment and mass movie with a romance at a corner which is all present in Vettai. If you wish to pass your time watching a sound fight and peppy number and a light comedy watch Vettai.

My rating will be 2.5/5

The negative part is make-up could have been made lighter for the heroines since Sameera is expected to be how she was in Vaarnam Aayiram at least when they are at home and Nasser could have been used better but Nasser takes the screen and audience away in the 3 scenes he comes, shows why Kamal Hassan has quoted “I am Nasser and Nasser is Kamal“.

Final Verdict:- Light but weight Vettai.

Nanban Da

As we all have seen 3 idiots for at least 3 times now we know what happens in each and every next scene that is going to follow like the entry of the hero at last who is the scientist and what might have happened on Sept 5th.. But it’s what you say as a remake.
Nanban:

The first and foremost thing comes to mind is its director Shankar, How come remake from such an ace director? Better he took the remake else the film would have wobbled in the middle. No changes made to screenplay only the place of visit (Locations) have been changed as per the preference of the Tamil audiences.

Then if it’s Shankar then off course his Set's comes to mind the road paintings in ‘Anniyan’

The body painting in ‘Sivaji’ and glass house for the song ‘Sahanna’. Snake and ladder in ‘Mudalvan’ and similarly in this film he had to paint a train for the song ‘asku lasku’. All the songs have Shankar’s touch.

The second thing is Vijay, cool boy in recent times after bodyguard Vijay has done the role as it is in the original version performed by Aamir Khan. Each and everything little expression has been taken care by Vijay so that he should not over perform or under perform so he has done it what was required from him in simple ways what the doctor ordered. Good to see him like the old boy next door even after 16 years past Poove Unakkaga (1996) and Thulladha Manamum Thullum (1999).

Then it’s Jeeva playing the role of sharman joshi though both have a similar resemblance the timely comedy are good to watch and he has performed as to the expected level.

Srikanth the illustrator is good with the Tamil version happy that Maddy did not take up the role else it would have fizzled out. The emotion scene normally makes you cry and Srikanth with Shankar have done their bit to make sure the touch of Maddy is still present in the movie.

All film will have a hero and a villain who turns to be the good guy because of the hero’s thoughts same here it’s the college Principal Mr.Viru sahasrabudhe sorry its Virumandi Santhanam (Virus) role done by Sathya Raj himself happy to see him without the hair vig and the way he speaks is quite difficult but still had to equal the performance of Boman Irani in the original version.

Then last known is Sathyan proves he is worthy an actor. He has to change is dialogue delivery from symphony Kongu Tamil to a Californian Tamil.

Usually in Shankar’s film heroines are not much concentrated except for the songs, but here the heroine comes along till the end of the movie that’s a notable point and Ileana doing her first with Vijay and second in the Tamil industry has done her part but does not make the impression like kareena Kapoor does but still has done her part may be Vijay and Sathya raj do a more than her.

Harris doing his job but still the music sounds that it’s already present in some other movie but a country obsessed with film you cannot complain copying of the tunes and remaking the same music. The effort taken to bring the chorus has worked well and the title song has come out well that it still lingers in your ears even after the movie is over.

All songs with the video are good to watch for the audience.

Movie Cast:

Vijay as Kosakhi Pasapugazh (Panchavan Parivendan)
Jeeva as Sevalkodi Senthil
Srikanth as Venkatramakrishnan
Ileana D'Cruz as Ria Santhanam
Sathyaraj as Virumandi Santhanam (Virus)
Sathyan as Srivatsan (Silencer)
S. J. Surya as Panchavan Parivendan (Guest appearance)
Anuya Bhagvath as Swetha Santhanam
Vijay Vasanth as Paneerselvam
Indrans as Virus's assistant
Manobala as 'Librarian' Bose
Uma Padmanabhan as Venkat's mother

The plus for the movie is the title itself rolls out with funny calligraphy with smiley’s J J all around. Then specific Vijay Intro a fight and a rocking trembling dance which is followed in most of his movies is not present here, Equal importance to all characters no one is given an upper hand over the other. Sound mixing by Oscar award winner Russell pookutty.

The minus points of the film is that if you remember 3idiots scene by scene then Nanban is not your movie for the festive season because the screenplay and the script is the same as in its Hindi version.

Final verdict Nanban~PongALL IS WELL

Online comments:

Nanban is an engaging film with noble intentions. Don’t miss this film Nanban has got more than something for everyone. It is very unlikely that a person finds such a wholesome package unsatisfying. All is absolutely well! Nanban is worth a watch. Nanban is the perfect feel-good fare for the festive season; despite minor glitches all is well. It is a Shankar's Sankrathi feast for the audience!
