Nanban Da

As we all have seen 3 idiots for at least 3 times now we know what happens in each and every next scene that is going to follow like the entry of the hero at last who is the scientist and what might have happened on Sept 5th.. But it’s what you say as a remake.
Nanban:

The first and foremost thing comes to mind is its director Shankar, How come remake from such an ace director? Better he took the remake else the film would have wobbled in the middle. No changes made to screenplay only the place of visit (Locations) have been changed as per the preference of the Tamil audiences.

Then if it’s Shankar then off course his Set's comes to mind the road paintings in ‘Anniyan’

The body painting in ‘Sivaji’ and glass house for the song ‘Sahanna’. Snake and ladder in ‘Mudalvan’ and similarly in this film he had to paint a train for the song ‘asku lasku’. All the songs have Shankar’s touch.

The second thing is Vijay, cool boy in recent times after bodyguard Vijay has done the role as it is in the original version performed by Aamir Khan. Each and everything little expression has been taken care by Vijay so that he should not over perform or under perform so he has done it what was required from him in simple ways what the doctor ordered. Good to see him like the old boy next door even after 16 years past Poove Unakkaga (1996) and Thulladha Manamum Thullum (1999).

Then it’s Jeeva playing the role of sharman joshi though both have a similar resemblance the timely comedy are good to watch and he has performed as to the expected level.

Srikanth the illustrator is good with the Tamil version happy that Maddy did not take up the role else it would have fizzled out. The emotion scene normally makes you cry and Srikanth with Shankar have done their bit to make sure the touch of Maddy is still present in the movie.

All film will have a hero and a villain who turns to be the good guy because of the hero’s thoughts same here it’s the college Principal Mr.Viru sahasrabudhe sorry its Virumandi Santhanam (Virus) role done by Sathya Raj himself happy to see him without the hair vig and the way he speaks is quite difficult but still had to equal the performance of Boman Irani in the original version.

Then last known is Sathyan proves he is worthy an actor. He has to change is dialogue delivery from symphony Kongu Tamil to a Californian Tamil.

Usually in Shankar’s film heroines are not much concentrated except for the songs, but here the heroine comes along till the end of the movie that’s a notable point and Ileana doing her first with Vijay and second in the Tamil industry has done her part but does not make the impression like kareena Kapoor does but still has done her part may be Vijay and Sathya raj do a more than her.

Harris doing his job but still the music sounds that it’s already present in some other movie but a country obsessed with film you cannot complain copying of the tunes and remaking the same music. The effort taken to bring the chorus has worked well and the title song has come out well that it still lingers in your ears even after the movie is over.

All songs with the video are good to watch for the audience.

Movie Cast:

Vijay as Kosakhi Pasapugazh (Panchavan Parivendan)
Jeeva as Sevalkodi Senthil
Srikanth as Venkatramakrishnan
Ileana D'Cruz as Ria Santhanam
Sathyaraj as Virumandi Santhanam (Virus)
Sathyan as Srivatsan (Silencer)
S. J. Surya as Panchavan Parivendan (Guest appearance)
Anuya Bhagvath as Swetha Santhanam
Vijay Vasanth as Paneerselvam
Indrans as Virus's assistant
Manobala as 'Librarian' Bose
Uma Padmanabhan as Venkat's mother

The plus for the movie is the title itself rolls out with funny calligraphy with smiley’s J J all around. Then specific Vijay Intro a fight and a rocking trembling dance which is followed in most of his movies is not present here, Equal importance to all characters no one is given an upper hand over the other. Sound mixing by Oscar award winner Russell pookutty.

The minus points of the film is that if you remember 3idiots scene by scene then Nanban is not your movie for the festive season because the screenplay and the script is the same as in its Hindi version.

Final verdict Nanban~PongALL IS WELL
